Bryson, Bryson, Bryson. Well I got Bryson pretty much out of the blue. I was looking for this specific mutation and was having near to no luck, then finally there he was! He was such a sweet boy, and became so spoiled. Bryson caught a parasite and spent quite a bit of time sick. He had several vet visits, but cleared up and showed so much potential! He gave me ulcers for quite some time because I was so worried about him, but in the end it only gave him a bigger place in my heart. He had the sweetest disposition, but lost interest in things quickly! Nonetheless he was a wonderful boy and I was so glad to have him!

His illness came on so quickly I didn't even have time to take it in. I realized one day that his poo was tiny and off colored, so I took it to the vet for tests. The tests came back clear but because hewasnt as perky as usual, I asked the vet to go ahead and put him on a broad spectrim med. Over the years Ive pretty much learned what signs to look for and what parts to examine as a vet would in a normal apt. Things seemed fine. I started giving him gas drops and the medicine the vet gave me.

The next day I just knew something wasnt right and I needed to see a vet. My vet wasnt in, of course, so he saw another one. She did a full exam and couldn't find anything wrong with him. She went ahead and gave him some sub-q fluids and sent me home with Critical Care to start handfeeding him (he had lost weight since his last weigh in here). Later that evening I got him out to feed him and he was very bloated... I rushed him to the vet and they did x-rays... she said she didn't see anything. When she handed him back to me he didn't feel bloated ??? So I got him home and did what I know to do for possible bloat. I massaged his belly, let him out for a run, and handfed. I put him in a carrier in my room for the night. A few hours later my mom got up to give a night feeding... when I woke up in the morning, she told me he was gone. She said when she got up to feed him, just three hours after I had him out and he was fine, she said he just was limp. She gave him sub-q and a tad of dyne for his bloodsugar.... and held him as he passed away later that morning. She didn't want to wake me up and have me deal with it ... I hate that I wasnt there for him as he passed, but I am grateful that he wasn't alone. - His necro showed no signs of failure. There was food in his gut, but no blockage... no real closure with no conclusive results.

Bryson meant so much to me and I took his loss pretty hard. It NEVER gets any easier to lose one. Especially when you feel so hopeless... they just dont give us enough warning. I will miss him forever and I will cherish his memory. His ashes remain in the chin room, where they belong.
